Resignation Process
To formally resign from your position with Monona Grove School District, please email a letter of resignation to your supervisor.
If you have multiple positions with Monona Grove School District and do not plan on resigning from all, please note this in your email. If it is not specified, we will terminate you from all of your positions with Monona Grove School District.
Teacher Resignations
Your resignation will not be Board approved until the next scheduled Board meeting after you provide notice. Liquidated damages may apply and you will receive an invoice regarding payment, if applicable (please review your contract for more information).
District Owned Property
Upon resignation, you need to reach out to your supervisor to return any district property in your possession (ID, key FOB, laptop/tablet, etc.) before or on your last day working.
If you are resigning in the summer and are a school year employee, it is your responsibility to set up a time with your supervisor or school clerical/custodial staff to return these items within 1 week of your resignation.
Email/Google Drive
School year employees who resign in the summer, will lose access to your district email/Google Drive within a week of your resignation. Please ensure you are planning accordingly to get any information you may need before you lose access.
All other employees that resign will lose access to your district email/Google Drive after their last day working. Please ensure you are planning accordingly to get any information you may need before you lose access.
Benefits
Please reference the appropriate handbook for your position (Teacher or Support Staff) for applicable dates regarding termination of benefits. If you have additional questions, please reach out to benefits@mgschools.net.
Last Paycheck Received
Please review our yearly paycheck schedule (Business Services > Payroll > 202x - 202x Paycheck Schedule); once you determine your last day working, you will be able to see when your last paycheck will occur.
Tax Forms
All appropriate tax forms will be sent to your home address on file; if your home address is not up to date, please update that before your departure. To find instructions on updating your home address, please navigate to Business Services > Payroll > How To View/Change Home Address in Employee Access.

Workplace Injuries (Worker's Compensation)
Please report all employee injuries as soon as possible, using the form. The form should be filled out by the building administrative assistant or the injured employee. Send completed form to hr@mgschools.net.
Work Expectations on Inclement Weather Days
Teachers, S/EAs, School Nutrition: Not required to report or enter time off in Employee Access. These individuals are paid for the school closing date. However, if there are make-up days, they will not receive additional pay for working on these days.
Clerical, District Office Staff, Administrators, Coordinators, other Non-Instructional Professional Staff: These individuals have the option to stay home if they determine it is unsafe to come into work. They may also work from home with the permission of their supervisor. They must use personal, vacation, sick, or comp time if they do not work in the office or from home.
Custodial/Maintenance: These individuals are expected to work unless extremely hazardous conditions exist. They will be informed if it's determined that they should remain at home. If they do not work, they must use personal, vacation, or sick leave.
