Communications

The district website is the hub of information like calendars, school nutrition menus, family resources, academic resources, school contact information, staff directories and more. 

Each school also has its own website, accessible through the district website. 

The Infinite Campus Parent Portal provides parents and caregivers access to grades, assignment due dates, attendance, lunch account balances, fees and more.

We utilize email, SMS and calls through Finalsite Mass Communications. It is our practice to send an SMS message with an email through this platform. Types of messages sent through this platform include: messages sent to all district families, school-wide updates, grade-level information, and classroom-wide announcements. These emails may also include urgent notifications such as school closures or emergency alerts, which are the only messages that are accompanied with a recorded phone call.

Email: Messages sent to all district families are saved in our Message Archive for each school year (located on this page). We use contact information and communication preferences from your Infinite Campus account, so it’s important to keep your contact details up to date to ensure you don’t miss important updates.

Messages sent via Finalsite are from the email address: no_reply@mgschools.net.

Text: It is our practice to send a text (SMS) message with an email. We have two short code numbers for sending text messages. 

• Emergency messages come from 53291
• General outreach messages come from 97178

If you aren’t receiving text messages along with our emails (after checking your contact information is correct in Infinite Campus), simply text “START” to 60680 to opt in and ensure you stay connected.

Phone: Phone calls are used in cases of school closures or other emergencies. The most common reason for a phone call is a school closure due to weather (ie, snow days). 

Messages sent through Infinite Campus are typically used for classroom-specific updates, attendance notices, and school nutrition information.

Messages sent via Infinite Campus are from the email address: infinitecampus@mononagrovewi.mg.infinitecampus.org.

Messages can typically be viewed in the Message Center of the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.

Each school releases a monthly newsletter at the start of the month, featuring important upcoming dates, school and district news, highlights from our school community, and links to digital flyers. These newsletters are sent straight to your inbox and are a great way to stay informed and connected.

Past issues are also archived on each school’s website under News & Calendars > Newsletters.

As part of our efforts to keep families well informed, to be more environmentally friendly, to embrace innovation, and to maintain fiscal responsibility, we have transition from paper to electronic flyer delivery.

You may view all digital flyers available, or they may be viewed by applicable school and are also linked in every school's monthly newsletter.

Flyers are submitted by outside vendors and do not imply District endorsement of any identified product and/or of services.

You can find us on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube for additional and frequent content from MGSD. 

Facebook and Instagram are used for celebrating our students, staff and school community. The only informational posts you can find on these channels are for no school days or emergency updates. While everyone is welcome and encouraged to comment, our first priority is to protect students, staff and community members. Comments and/or posts that do not follow our Commenting Guideline may be removed.

We send out a Budget Updates Community Newsletter to anyone who has signed up to receive communications related to MGSD budget news. If you’ve provided your contact information for budget updates, you’ll automatically receive these newsletters in your inbox.

Canvas (for secondary students) is a platform where you'll receive notifications directly from your student's teachers about classroom learning, assignments, and more.

Visiting School Sites:
Media are occasionally invited to our schools to cover stories or highlight events. To ensure the safety and security of our students and staff, all media must contact the Communications Office prior to visiting any school site. Upon arrival, media representatives must sign in at the school’s front office like all other visitors. When conducting interviews, filming, or photographing, the Communications Office (or a designated staff member) will accompany media personnel to minimize disruptions and provide support as needed.

Photo/Video Releases:
State and federal laws permit students and parents/guardians to opt out of having student information, including photographs, shared publicly. The Communications Office works closely with school staff to ensure that students who do not have photo/video release permission on file are not photographed, filmed, or interviewed.

Emergency and Crisis Communications:
During emergencies, the district’s top priority is ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff, and communicating promptly with families. The Communications Office will provide accurate and timely updates to the media through an official spokesperson, written statement, or press conference. Media may be directed to a designated staging area to ensure safety and reduce disruption to emergency response efforts.
