Open Enrollment

The regular open enrollment application is open from the first Monday in February until the last weekday of April.

There are two ways to apply for open enrollment:

1. The regular application period is used to apply for the following school year.  The preferred method to apply for open enrollment is using the Department of Public Instruction's online application form. This form is  "active" only during the application period and can be found on the main page of the open enrollment website.
2. The alternative application procedure is used to apply for the current school year.  More information on alternative application procedures can be found on the alternative application procedures page.

Late applications will not be accepted for any reason. However, you could be eligible to apply via the Alternative Open Enrollment procedure.  Alternative open enrollment applications must be submitted during the school year in which the pupil wants to begin attending school in the nonresident school district. Requests for assignment to a specific school will be considered. However, your child's application may be approved and assigned to a different school than requested. You will have to decide whether to accept the assignment or forego the open enrollment.

You must fill out a Tuition Waiver to remain in the district for the current school year. Please contact openenrollment@mgschools.net for the correct form. In addition, you will need to apply for open enrollment to remain in the district. At this time, currently attending students are guaranteed acceptance unless there are truancy or expulsion issues.

Current board policy is that siblings are not guaranteed acceptance but instead are given a preference. If there are more preference pupils than there are spaces, the district will select among the preference pupils via a random selection drawing.
