Track

Track & Field 2009

Who: Students entering grades 6th through 9th who are interested in learning more about or improving their track and field performances.

When: Classes will begin on Tuesday, June 16th and will meet every weekday until Friday, July 11th. The first session will run from 8am – 10am, while the second session will run from 10am - noon.

Where: All classes will be held at the Monona Grove High School Track. In the event of dangerous weather we will meet in the high school gym with drop off at the North/Pool entrance.

What to Bring or Wear: Sweats, shorts, t-shirt, running/training shoes, and a water bottle.

What to Expect: Classes will be conducted as if they were track practices. We will be spending time introducing and practicing skills, drills, and event specific learning opportunities. We will introduce all the track and field events. A portion of our time will be spent preparing for a sanctioned summer track meet. This meet opportunity will be held at Monona Grove High School on a date to be determined.

Note: Although we will be keeping daily attendance, we will not call home if a student is absent.
Also, there is no supervision for students after 12:00 p.m.

Teachers/Coaches: High School Track and Field Head Coaches Brian Storms and Peter Johnson will be running the program. Coaches from both the boys and girls programs will also be assisting, along with numerous athletes from the high school team.
