About Maywood

Maywood staff and students value the dignity of all members of the school community at all times. A positive, consistent approach to discipline which focuses on safety, respect, communication, self-discipline, problem solving, development of a positive self-image, and prevention of discipline problems will be used at Maywood.

Maywood is a Tribes, TLCâ school. Tribes is a “process”-a way to establish a positive culture for learning and human development throughout a school curriculum. The four community agreements that we follow at Maywood include:

  1. Attentive Listening - To pay close attention to one another’s ideas, opinions and feelings; check for understanding; and let others know they have been heard.
  1. Appreciations/No Put-Downs - To treat others kindly and avoid negative remarks/behaviors.
  1. Right to Pass - To have the right to choose when and to what extend one will participate in a group activity; observe quietly; and to choose if you’ll have information later in the group when asked.
  1. Mutual Respect - To affirm value and uniqueness in each person; appreciate cultural and individual differences; and offer feedback that encourages growth.

Safety policies and procedures are fully implemented at Maywood. Parent and Student Handbooks are distributed at the beginning of the school year that details behavior expectations for maintaining a safe learning environment. The five Maywood guidelines are discussed at the beginning of the school year, and stressed throughout the year.
