The 8th graders meet one class period every day for a semester.

In eighth grade, students work with Word, Excel, Publisher, Charts & Graphs, PowerPoint, Web Design, Logo Programming, and Flight Simulator.

During the Word Unit, students use editing tools to enhance their work for other classes.  Included in this unit are use of a spell checker, setting up headers and footers, page numbering, and the use of clip art and WordArt improve their projects.  

Students also use Microsoft Publisher to produce professional looking documents.

In Excel, students will use an economic simulation to learn how to create and manage worksheets for doing calculations. Click on the link below to go to the economic simulation.

PowerPoint is a powerful multimedia applications that is introduced during the second half of the semester. While working with PowerPoint, students also learn how to integrate digital photos and video into their multimedia presentations.

When you are finished viewing the Presentation, please press the Back Button on the browser toolbar. It is located in the upper left corner of the browser screen.

Students also have a short unit on use of Microsoft Flight Simulator. Students learn how to take off, navigate, and land a plane at Meig’s Field in Chicago.
