The Project:

This summer, I participated along with fifteen other French teachers  in a Fulbright-Hays Group Project Abroad through the  University of Wisconsin African Studies Department. The grant allowed a team of 15 French teachers from the Wisconsin area to travel to Benin, West Africa. 

Traditionally, French curriculum has focused on the country of France and perhaps Canada. It was our goal to expand this focus to other francophone countries, namely francophone Africa.

Our purpose in Benin was to experience life there for ourselves, shoot video and then write curriculum units for the French classroom. We are currently editing the video and writing web-based curriculum units for other French teachers throughout the country to use.
