What is this
expedition? Lead by Mr. Anacker and Mr. Sonsalla, 7th graders were taught about plants and animals that can be found in the lagoon. They were shown how to research and identify plants and animals. Finding the dissolved oxygen, temperature and the turbidity in the water were also taught. Guiding
Questions: A) Why should we or anyone else in the community care about the lagoon? B) What affect do we have on the lagoon? C) What does a healthy lagoon look like? If the lagoon is healthy, how do we sustain it? If the lagoon is less that healthy, what can we do to raise the level of health? Projects: A) Students will create fliers B) Students will develop a website to inform the community of the health of the lagoon and school/community projects C) Students will use a variety of other communication vehicles to highlight the health status of the lagoon (e.g. video, poetry) Fieldwork: A) At the lagoon students will interview and survey community members B) Students will clean the lagoon and surrounding area Service: A) Students will clean the lagoon and the surrounding area B) Students will make public service announcements
