COTTAGE GROVE SCHOOLS PTO

A. Building Projects

Gary Shumacher gave a brief overview of the school buildings that are scheduled for construction.

B. Principal Reports

Cottage Grove Schools/Renee Tennant - Discussed upcoming funding requests to be approved at a later date. Also discussed interest in a medicine wheel and/or Native American painting. Discussed events leading up to and Irish Dance and possible art/cultural piece donations from families from other countries as a possible cultural event.

Taylor Prairie School/Barbara Berg - Discussed formation of group to study 4-year kindergarten. Reviewed agenda for the in-service day on September 29. Discussed funding request for Reading Night for 3 first grade classes to be approved at a later date. Barb let us know that this was an experimental event and that other 1st grade teachers may be interested in this at a later time. Funding request of $600 for Hal Kacanek and the didgeridoos was presented and approved.

C. Vice President's report

Cathy Gilmore Nelson let us know that she and Pam Keiner would be sharing the position and alternating meetings.

D. Secretary's Report

There was no secretary report this meeting.

E. Treasurer's Report

Lisa Baudhuin presented the PTO P&L vs. actual budget for July 2005-June 2006. She also discussed several checks that had not cleared yet. It was agreed that we wait to see if they would clear soon. The treasurer's report was approved. It was brought to Lisa's attention that postage for this year was posted to last year in error. Lisa planned to check with Juli and then make any necessary changes. Lisa also let us know that she would be changing the SCRIP Income category to SCRIP Activity to avoid confusion.

Committee Reports

A. Teacher Welcome Back Brunch - A big thank you from the teachers!

B. Fall Festival and Room Parent - Preparations for Fall Festival this weekend are well under way. More volunteers are needed.

C. Scrip -

New Business

A. Santa will be at the Muddy Moose on December 1. Sponsored by the Cottage Grove Optimists Club.

B. The book fair is really on 9/28 at Cottage Grove schools, not 10/5 per magnet.

C. Homecoming parade volunteers are need on October 6. The parade starts at 5:15. We discussed the possibility of sponsoring a float.
