Copyright and intellectual property rights are complex topics and involve legal issues that educators and students must be aware of. With the advent of the Internet and electronic technologies the ease with which information may be accessed and utilized has increased dramatically. Unfortunately, users of electronic resources may not always understand the complexities of copyright issues and this leads to problems for the individual and the district. The ease of copying electronic information can also lead to deliberate plagiarism that educators must identify and deal with.
