
Summer
School 2008
It is hard to believe that summer is just
around the corner. As we near the
end of the third quarter many parents have questions about Summer School.
The following information answers some of the most common questions.
Courses: The
courses offered this year are:
1.
Math for Success:
Reinforcement of math concepts, such as basic
computation skills. Students are
recommended for this course based on their Measures
of Academic Progress (MAP) scores as well as their classroom performance.
2.
Reading
for Success:
Reinforcement
of reading skills such as fluency, comprehension, vocabulary and writing.
Students
are recommended for this course based on their Measures of
Academic Progress (MAP) scores as well as their classroom performance.
3.
PASS:
Reinforcement of skill areas addressed throughout the year in the
subjects of English, Math, Science, and/or Social Studies.
This course is only for students with a cumulative core grade point
average below 1.7 (C-). Successful
completion of the coursework is required for promotion to the next grade level.
Dates:
June 16-July 11 (no summer school on July 4th)
Site: The
Monona Grove High School will host summer school for students in grades 6-12.
Schedule:
Courses are 90
minutes in length (Period 1: 8:30-10:00, Break: 10:00-10:15, Period 2:
10:15-11:45)
Transportation:
Bussing is provided for students in Cottage Grove with students being
picked up at Cottage Grove Elementary school at approximately 8:00 and taken to
the high school. Students will be bussed back to Cottage Grove Elementary
School arriving at approximately 12:10.
Registration:
All registration is online and can be accessed through the district
website at mononogrove.org beginning on April 22nd.
More detailed instructions will be sent with the recommendation letter in
May.
