Getting to Know Each Other

In Social Studies we are continuing to get to know each other and will focus our time on the study of our Families in October.  Everyone will complete a family tree at home to share with the class.  In school we'll write Family Stories and Family Poems.

Spooky October!!!       Our room is decorated for the month and our plans include scary stories, Halloween songs, spooky math projects, pumpkin pals, AND MORE!

Reading Update!  Everyone is learning to be independent workers during our reading block each morning.  By the second week in October we started small group reading.  Expect your child to periodically bring home their book bag with a book to read to you.  Other reading:  Our big books this month include From Head to Toe by Eric Carle.  Reading comprehension skills include character and setting charts and beginning middle and end chart.

     October Author of the Month:
               Lois Ehlert
Each month an author is featured in our classroom.  Kids have access to a collection of books by that author to read and review.  I read several to the class as well.
