Nichols School – District Office Board Room

Committee Members Present: Teresa Adams, Mike DuPlayee, John Kitslaar, Phil McDade, Laura Toso

Also Present: Paul Brost, Mary Possin, Jeff Schreiner, Gary Schumacher, John Weinberger

I. The meeting was opened by John Kitslaar at 5:00 p.m.

II. Declaration of Public Notice – Gary Schumacher confirmed that declaration of public notice of the meeting was made.

III. Public Appearances – There were no public appearances.

IV. Minutes from the May 19, 2004 meeting – Teresa Adams moved to approve the minutes from the May 19, 2004 Personnel & Policy Committee meeting. Phil McDade seconded. The minutes were approved as distributed.

V. Discussion and Possible Approval of Revisions to the 2004-2005 Monona Grove High School Extra-Curricular Code of Conduct – Jeff Schreiner, Assistant Principal/Athletic Director, shared with the Committee results of the annual review of the code of conduct that was recently conducted. Mr. Schreiner chairs the process that includes students, staff, coaches/advisors, and parents. Committee members asked that Mr. Schreiner make a few revisions and then forward it to the Board of Education. Phil McDade moved approval of the document as revised. Mike DuPlayee seconded and the motion carried. The Board of Education will be reviewing the Committee’s recommendation at their July 15, 2004, meeting.

VI. Discussion and Possible Approval of the Following Policies:

A. Board Policy 441.2 – Student Representation to the Board – John Kitslaar moved to forward the policy to the

Board for their approval. Teresa Adams seconded. Motion passed.

B. Board Policy 531.10 – District Data and Assessment Support Coordinator (Job Description) – Teresa Adams moved to forward the policy/job description to the Board for their approval. Laura Toso seconded. Motion passed.

VII. Other Agenda Items – No other items were discussed.

VIII. Set Date and time for Next Meeting - The next Personnel & Policy Committee Meeting will be held Tuesday, August 17, 2004 – 7:15 p.m. at Nichols School in the District Office Board Room.

IX. Adjournment – Mike DuPlayee moved to adjourn the meeting. Phil McDade seconded. Motion passed. The meeting adjourned at 6:22 p.m.
