Discussion
and Possible Approval of a Pilot Traffic Control Plan for the Coldspring/Jerome
Street Area Near Monona Grove High School
Dr. Schumacher reported on a meeting he had attended
with representatives of the school district, City of Monona, City of Madison, and Madison area residents on June
9, 2004, where a proposed traffic plan for the Coldspring/Jerome Street area
near Monona Grove High School was discussed.
Under this plan Coldspring Avenue would be blocked off at Jerome Street
with traffic exiting from the high school only being able to turn left onto
Coldspring.
Dan Millin moved that the Committee recommend to the
Board of Education approval of a pilot traffic control plan for the
Coldspring/Jerome Street area near Monona Grove High School. Mr. Kitslaar seconded and the motion carried.
VIII.
Recommendation
for School Bus Transportation for the Cottage Grove Elementary Bus Routes
Jeff Avery reported that a survey of the bussing
companies, including our in-house Transportation Department, resulted in an
estimated savings of $74,000 per year for our Transportation Department to
continue with regular education, special education, mid-day runs, and the late
bus run in Cottage Grove than the lowest contractor bid for bussing
service. Because of these savings, the
Monona Grove School District Transportation Department will continue bussing
service in Cottage Grove.
