MINUTES:   Meeting of the Monona Grove Board of Education held Tuesday, April 29, 2003, in the E.F. Schwan Fine Arts Center, Monona Grove High School, Starting at 3:45 PM

BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT:        Nancy Allen, Kathy Bultman (Arrived 4:00 PM), Mike DuPlayee, John Kitslaar (Arrived 4:15 PM), Phil McDade, Mary Possin

BOARD MEMBER ABSENT:            Bill Bland

I.              Opening of Meeting – Mary Possin

 

II.           Declaration of Public Notice – acknowledged

 

III.         Public Hearing for Discussion Regarding Potential Budget Reductions

 

         Ms. Possin welcomed those in attendance.

 

         Mr. Schumacher began the hearing by giving an overview of why the school district is facing a proposed budget deficit ranging from $400,000 to possibly $1,700,000. 

 

         The following individuals spoke regarding the potential budget reductions:

·           Val Edwards, Library Media Specialist, Monona Grove High School

·           Barb Schmidt, Library Media Specialist, Nichols School

·           Marlene Ross, 3rd Grade Teacher, Nichols School

·           Tom Howe, Social Studies Teacher, Monona Grove High School

·           Annette Eisman, Library Media Specialist, Maywood School

·           Pat Dorn, Band Director, Winnequah Middle School & Monona Grove High School

·           Janice Stone, Band Teacher, Winnequah Middle School

·           Michelle Baxter, At Risk Teacher, Monona Grove High School

·           Janet Blimling, English Teacher, Monona Grove High School

·           Tiffany Loken, 5th Grade Teacher, Nichols School

 

         Ms. Possin thanked those in attendance for their comments and concerns regarding the potential budget reductions.

 

IV.        Adjournment

 

         Ms. Bultman moved that the meeting be adjourned.  Mr. Kitslaar seconded and the meeting was adjourned at 4:30 PM.
