MGAS Student Profile

The typical student for whom the Alternative School is designed has serious difficulty achieving success in the traditional school environment.  Despite the student’s desire to learn and to earn a high school diploma, graduation from a traditional high school is unlikely.
The Alternative School meets the needs of those students who have not been successful in the traditional school setting.  Learning issues may include non-traditional learning styles, difficulty conforming to classroom rules and schedules, and a need for a more intimate learning environment.  Personal issues may include alienation from peers, problems in the home, and engagement in self-destructive behaviors.  These issues often result in high absentee rates and credit deficiency.
