Emergency Closing Information
Throughout the school year, inclement weather conditions may arise. The decision to delay or close school is made prior to 6:00 a.m., based on district policy and procedures and the best available weather information. In addition, should weather or road conditions cause the school district to close schools once the children are in attendance, similar announcements will be made. Every precaution possible will be exercised in caring for your child.
The announcement of closing or delaying of school will be made via the local radio and television media centers (see list below), as well as posted on the district web page at www.mononagrove.org. Additionally, text, email and phone messages will be sent to all students’ homes based on parent communication selections within the parent portal of Infinite Campus.
The Monona Grove School District uses Infinite Campus, an online student management system to send special alerts and notices to families. The effectiveness of this notification system is dependent on the District having the most current contact information from parents/guardians. Parents/guardians must keep their student contact information up-to-date within the Infinite Campus Parent Portal in order to receive these special alerts, available via text, phone call or email (at your discretion). Parents/guardians who change their home phone, cell phone, work phone or email address are encouraged to update their information as soon as possible.
A quick link to log into the Infinite Campus and the Parent Portal is located on the top right of this web site. Directions for navigating the Parent Portal can be found here.
Parents who feel the weather conditions pose an undue risk for their child are encouraged to use their own judgment in making a decision whether or not to send your child to school.
