HOURS AND POLICIES

Hours & Classes
The Winnequah IMC is open from 7:45-3:00 each day. All classrooms, in grades 4K-5, have a scheduled, weekly IMC class for 30 or 40 minutes. During a class period, we spend 20-30 minutes, either in the library or in the computer lab, working on information literacy and technology skills. The final 10 minutes of each class is spent checking out materials. Individual students and classes in all grades are encouraged to visit the IMC during any open times in the schedule.

Checking out materials
Students in grades 4K-1 are allowed to check out one item from the library at at time. Students in older grades, 2-5, check out the number of materials that matches their grade level (ie: 3rd graders can take 3 items out a time, 4th graders are allowed 4, etc.). Grades 2-5 can also check out magazines. Audio books, books on CD or on a Play Away, are available to grades 3-5. Materials are checked out for a 2-week period. Books may be renewed at the end of 2 weeks unless they are on HOLD for another student. During research projects, students are allowed to exceed the check out limit if needed.

Fines and fees
There are no fines for overdue materials. If items are damaged, please return them to the IMC for repair.
If an item is LOST, a letter is sent home with your child listing the replacement cost. If payment is not possible at the time, please contact the IMC by phone (221-7677 x1117), written note, or email stacey.pipson@mgschools.net.

Internet use and printing
Students use the internet for research and enrichment on a regular basis. A teacher is always present in the IMC when students are using the computer labs or library. Students are not allowed to use the internet for: playing violent games, viewing videos, listening to music, doing personal email or other social networking. If there are problems following these expectations, students' internet access can be denied. Please read the MGSD Computer Network Use policy for more information. Students are allowed to print for school purposes only and are asked to get permission from an adult first.
